Our Dumb Questions

Picture
Interactive performance, installation, and website, 2015. Our Dumb Questions explored a hesitancy to ask questions because of a fear of revealing ignorance.

Over the course of a year, I interviewed people to ask what kinds of questions they were curious about, but didn't feel like they could ask. In a gallery show, I made cookies stamped with question marks, which were given to people in exchange for questions.

The questions from each of these experiences were cataloged and presented at the Monona Public Library and online at ourdumbquestions.com

For a gallery show at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I designed a question mark shaped cookie press to make cookies to exchange for people's questions. Cookies are a delicious currency.

Big Red Push Button

Picture
For an installation at the Monona Public Library, I used a big red push button that can be pressed to get a new question. I was pretty new to working with circuits and learned a lot in the process. I made a guide for programming your own big red push button.
