Batik (2023-2024)

I learned batik from the Chinese Hmong folk artists in Danzhai, Guizhou, China. I use this traditional medium to create installation and 2d works.

All of my Batik are dyed using an indigo-fermentation vat - some go through multiple layers of wax and dye to have multiple shades from white to light blue to dark blue. Below has undergone the first dye and two layers of wax, before dying to the final shade of blue and removing the wax.
